Limestone Alps National Park
The forest wilderness in the heart of Central Europe
Wilderness here, does that still exist? Unfortunately hardly ... But the Kalkalpen National Park in Upper Austria is an exception. Parts of this unique protected area have the character of a primeval forest or are in the process of being transformed back into a forest wilderness! Together with the Kalkalpen National Park, we offer an Experience Wilderness Tour in the company of a National Park Ranger in this fascinating wilderness on our doorstep. A unique experience in this form in all of Central Europe! By means of an exclusive, strictly regulated special permit, it is possible for us to roam parts of the national park away from marked paths and to spend the night in the great outdoors!
Due to its proximity to civilization, this tour is designed in such a way that it is also suitable for young people from the age of 12 and for less adventurous adults - an Experience Wilderness Tour "light" or "for beginners", so to speak. Nevertheless, we can expect exciting animal encounters with proud deer, curious chamois, the primeval-looking Alpine salamanders and the largest woodpecker in our part of the world, the black woodpecker. We could also discover special features such as white-backed woodpecker, woodcock or black stork. In addition, the majestic but shy lynx regularly roams this area ...
Explore lonely, natural forests with us and let's climb over dead wood trunks. Let's descend into deserted valleys and cross wild streams. Let's enjoy fascinating views and listen to the owl call at night. Finally, experience the most beautiful outdoor shower in Central Europe. Feel Austria from its wildest and probably most impressive side, as you have probably never seen it before!
