Limestone Alps
Wilderness excursion Kalkalpen, Austria
Explore with us a crown jewel of the Alps, the unique high plateau of the Dead Mountains!
The Dead Mountains, one of the most important and largest karst areas in Europe, is almost entirely under nature protection, and rightly so. It is home to numerous rare species and nationally endangered habitats. And especially the huge plateau landscape in the east, with the largest near-natural larch-stone pine forest in the Eastern Alps, is particularly wild and pristine. We will explore this exciting, unique natural landscape extensively on this 3-day excursion in cooperation with WWF Austria.
Led by the biologist and wilderness guide Bernd Pfleger, we will experience the wilderness of our Alps from its most beautiful side in a small group of max. 8 participants: old mountain forests with gnarled trees and colorful alpine meadows. Fantastic panoramic views and lonely mountain idyll. Exciting animal observations and interesting explanations. Cozy hut evenings and exciting wilderness stories. We cannot serve with a shower or running water on this nature tour. Instead, with a warm oven, camp beds and, above all, unique nature experiences!
